It’s Just an Angel Dog?

The Internet got spooked last week with this pic of a woman spreading the ashes of her beloved Golden Retriever named Wagner. If you look closely at the picture on the bottom right, you can make out the shape of a dog, right? But is it real or is it just Photoshop? Or maybe a Halloween hoax? You be the judge! (DogTime)

Miley Cyrus Drops Free #DogLovers Album! #MCandHerDeadPetz

1396802271_miley-cyrus-dog_2Fresh off the VMAs, Miley Cyrus surprised her fans this week by dropping a new FREE album called Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz — which was inspired, I assume, by the loss of her pet dog, Floyd, last year. You can listen to the full album HERE!

After a quick preview, I found “The Floyd Song (Sunrise)”, “Karen Don’t Be Sad”, and “I Get So Scared” to be particularly heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. So twerk that! (photo: US Mag)

However, if you want to just stick with the old school “Wrecking Ball” Miley, then check out the new Seth Rogen trailer for The Night Before, which celebrates Christmas –– and her classic hit as well!

RIP: Uggie, “The Artist” of #Dogs

Sad news today in the celebrity dog world when word came that Uggie, the lovable Jack Russell terrier in the 2011 film, The Artist, was put to rest this past Friday. He will not only be remembered for his charming presence on the silver screen, but also his “infinite love for chicken and hot dogs”, one of his trainers said. (NY Daily News)

Jimmy Kimmel Remembers Cecil the Lion

2AC66D5F00000578-0-image-a-8_1437645720804The Internet exploded with outrage yesterday (and rightfully so) over the truly disturbing circumstances surrounding the death of Cecil the Lion, who was killed on a ‘hunting trip’ by a Minnesota dentist outside a Zimbabwean national park.

Even late night funnyman, Jimmy Kimmel, got a little choked up retelling the awful tale — as well as throwing in a ‘small penis’ joke…

Honey Badger Takes the Hot Dog Car Challenge!

Taking a page from last year’s #IceBucketChallenge playbook, NFL star, Tyrann Mathieu (formerly nicknamed “Honey Badger”) has teamed up with PETA to demonstrate how dangerous it is to leave your family pooch in a hot car for just a few minutes during the dog days of summer…

Can’t All #Dogs Get Along?

Anybody who rescues a dog assumes the responsibility of taking care of and loving that dog — and providing its fairytale “forever home”. But what happens if the new dog just doesn’t fit in with the other dogs in the household, no matter how hard you try?

Kyle Reynolds shares his bittersweet experience about what happens when a dog adoption just doesn’t work out on Medium.

#DoggiesForAnthony Breaks the Internet!

635561492232649872-ANthony-LyonsIf a picture is worth a thousand words, then 500,000 doggie photos is priceless! In what has to be the feel good story of the year (okay, I know it’s only been a week so far, but I have a feeling this one will be remembered for a long time) — Anthony Lyons, a young teenager with cancer, isn’t allowed see his dogs while he’s undergoing chemotherapy treatments at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, so a family friend came up with the idea to create a “Photo Doggies For Anthony” Facebook page for well-wishers to send in funny dog pictures to brighten his day.

Well, it didn’t take long for the doggie photos to come pouring in from all over the world, as the FB page went viral, and now over 500k doggie pics have been submitted for Anthony and all of us to enjoy! (USA Today)

Rescue #Dogs Fight Off Bad Publicity!

Rescued-DogsTwo recent online stories — The Wrong Dog: When A Dog Adoption Goes Bad by Erica-Lynn Huberty (The New York Times) and the much lighter, but still thought-provoking Woman Saves Two Dogs From Being Killed, Then Posts This On Craigslist by Nicole Gabriel (BarkPost) — discuss some unhappy endings in the world of dog rescue.

However, whether you’ve gotten your dog from a rescue or a breeder (which also have their own horror stories), I would hope most wannabe dog owners understand that these types of disturbing adoption tales are atypical, and it doesn’t negatively impact their decision to get a rescue pooch in the future. That said, unfortunately, there are no guarantees in life — even a dog’s life. (photo credits: TheDogWizard and FreeAllImages)

‘All #Dogs #Cats #Animals Go To Heaven’ – Pope Francis

Pope-FrancisDoveI usually don’t discuss politics or religion — but I’ve been a fan of Pope Francis ever since he took over the Vatican. And now that he’s recently come out saying that there is such a thing as an ‘Animal Heaven’, well, that pretty much seals the deal! (Business Insider)
