There’s a new Hungarian dog flick out now called White God — but this is more than just your average dog movie. The foreign film chews on much bigger social/political issues as you can see in the trailer below…

You Can’t Judge A Book By Its Cover…or Can You?
Somebody on the Internet has compiled a Tumblr blog of the most unintentionally — or maybe intentionally — hilarious self-published ebook covers that have appeared on Amazon. And what surprised me was that a disproportionate amount of these tomes seem to be animal books!
That said, I did have some trepidation about posting this since the article could be construed as book cover shaming — and I know how hard it is to write and publish a book. However, then I figured, as they say in showbiz, any publicity is good publicity! (BI)

Can’t All #Dogs Get Along?
Anybody who rescues a dog assumes the responsibility of taking care of and loving that dog — and providing its fairytale “forever home”. But what happens if the new dog just doesn’t fit in with the other dogs in the household, no matter how hard you try?
Kyle Reynolds shares his bittersweet experience about what happens when a dog adoption just doesn’t work out on Medium.
@MegDonohue Goes DOG CRAZY for @GratefulDogsSF
Best-selling USA Today author, Meg Donohue, has a new novel out this week called Dog Crazy, which I’m sure any dog lover will be absolutely nuts about!
And even better, she’s holding a book launch party at Books Inc. to benefit San Francisco-based Grateful Dogs Rescue tomorrow night on March 12. However, if you can’t make it to the event in person, you can always take a trip to Amazon to get your next dog book fix on! (Books Inc.)
Dr. Seuss Needs Your Help: #Dogs or #Cats?
A few weeks ago, the literary world discovered some unpublished works from the former home of longtime cat fan, Dr. Seuss. Whether or not the treasure trove was buried in the pantry underneath the stockpile of green eggs and ham, we’ll never know — but on July 28, the first title, What Pet Should I Get? — will be released for all of us animal lovers to adore! (NYT)

Hello Love #Dogs book for #ValentinesDay on #Kindle
True romantics say it’s better to be alone than be with the wrong person. But what’s even better than being happily alone? Life with a lovable dog, of course!
However, if you can’t have a dog on this Valentine’s Day (due to rental/housing restrictions or whatnot), why not settle down with a good ol’ heartwarming dog book like Hello Love by bestselling author, Karen McQuestion? Because it’s not just time that heals all wounds — it’s the love of a dog, too, of course! (Bubble Bath Books)
Budweiser #Dogs Commercial Wins Super Bowl…Again!
The New England Patriots weren’t the only big winners at this past Sunday’s Super Bowl XLIX — but it appears that Budweiser’s “Lost Dog” commercial scored the title of most popular on USA Today‘s Ad Meter rankings (Bud also won last year’s Super Bowl with their “Lost Puppy” ad). So, just in case you’re not a football fan or weren’t anywhere near a TV this weekend, here’s the replay…
Bill Simmons & Peter King Bet on the #Dogs #tbt #SuperBowl
As America gets ready for Super Bowl Sunday — I thought I’d toss up a couple throwback dog tributes written by two of the country’s most popular sportswriters, ESPN’s Bill Simmons (aka The Sports Guy) and Peter King (Sports Illustrated).
Here’s to “Bailey” and “The Dooze” — and, no, it’s not a buddy cop show. FYI: You’ll have to scroll down about halfway through the article to read King’s piece titled “Requiem for A Dog”.
#Cats Die With More Dignity Than People?
Do we treat our animals more humanely than people when it comes to end-of-life issues? Read this thought-provoking New York Times article by Margo Rabb to see where you stand.
Self-Publish Your Own Dog #Books For Dummies by @JFBookman
If you’ve ever been interested in writing your own dog book — or any book, for that matter — then you might want to sign up for The Self-Publisher’s Ultimate Resource Guide by Joel Friedlander and Betty Kelly Sargent. This bare bones book is less a ‘how-to guide’ and more like a directory — as it contains very little text — but is filled with hundreds of valuable links to editors, book cover designers, marketing/publicity gurus, and various publishing pros who can help your story stand out from the pack. Let’s face it, there are millions of books out there competing for eyeballs — and this one could help save you a lot of time and effort!
That said, this book is definitely tailored to scribes who have some knowledge about the publishing process and/or have already finished their manuscript — and just need some additional help during the post-writing stage. Please make sure to do your own research and stick with a budget when it comes to hiring any so-called ‘publishing experts’ — because nobody is going to care more about your book than YOU!
