Bush’s Barney Dies at the Age of 12

Barney oil painting by george w bushNothing brings out bipartisanship like the love of a good dog. And President George W. Bush’s black Scottish terrier, Barney, certainly provided many memorable moments during GW’s reign, giving White House tours with his “Barney Cam”, and also doubling as a self-appointed Secret Service agent. Barney sadly passed away last week at the age of 12.

Hitler’s Talking Dogs?

Historians knew that Hitler loved art — but in a 2011 New York Times column by Maureen Dowd, she discusses Dr. Jan Bondeson’s book, Amazing Dogs, in which he reveals that Hitler once supported a German school to teach large mastiffs to talk to humans. Luckily, it didn’t work — considering Adolf’s atrocious background, I can’t imagine those dogs were treated very well.

Of course, nowadays, everybody knows the world’s most famous canine blabber is Youtube’s Mishka the Talking Dog
