Yeah, #Dogs Rule by @MarkUlriksenArt

One of my all-time favorite (dog) artists, Mark Ulriksen, has a new book out called Dogs Rule Nonchalantly, which is a humorous storybook for kids and adults, featuring some of Ulriksen’s greatest illustrations kibbles ‘n bits from The New Yorker and other fine publications that make up this touching, dog-crazy tale. Underwater Puppies For You #Doglover!

underwater puppies dogs seth casteelThe swimming pool might be closed for the summer — but that’s not stopping these Underwater Puppies from diving into the deep end! That’s right, it’s another photo book by doggie photographer, Seth Casteel.

GoPro For #Dogs!

Interested in seeing the world from a dog’s eye view? GoPro, the waterproof camera originally created for surfers and adventurers, has created a new animal-friendly version for dogs called Fetch. (But watch out — as there have been some recent Monkey business over copyright issues on animal selfies!)

However, if you do decide to strap on a pet cam, perhaps your pooch could be the next Doggie Ansel Adams! (NY Times)

1999_02_01_Kalman_Dog_Reading_1000-670In honor of last month’s announcement that The New Yorker was opening up its archives for FREE to readers (back to 2007) — I thought I’d suggest this essay on the colorful illustrator/writer/dog lover, Maira Kalman, whose work you’ve no doubt seen on the mag’s covers for years! Jeff Koons: Lover of #Dogs

If you’re in the Big Apple for the upcoming 4th of July weekend — you might want to catch the Jeff Koons Retrospective going on all summer long at The Whitney Museum of American Art.

Koons is the artist who’s famous for his huge balloon dog sculptures — but has some other provocative, non-canine-themed pieces as well. Of course I prefer his dog art. But I have to admit, the gigantic Play-Doh installation looks pretty cool! (The Guardian)

Rich Dogs of Instagram?

Paul Nathan has photographed hipsters in Brooklyn — so it’s only naturally that he turns his camera on the most stylish New Yorkers around — dogs! Specifically, his dashing doggie photo book, Groomed, focuses exclusively on the dogs of the 1%. Is this class warfare for pets? I prefer to think of it as ‘The Shaved vs. The Shaved-Nots’.

Judging by the extreme looks on view, I actually kinda feel sorry for some of these overly pampered pooches — but I’m sure they’re very well fed! (Business Insider)

Ambassador Dogs to the Rescue!

ambassador dogs lisa loebWhat with all the poor diplomatic relations going on between countries today, I think the world could use some talented Ambassador Dogs — with a strong foreign policy background, of course.

And luckily for readers, Extreme Dog Lover/Trainer, Lisa Loeb (no, not the singer, Lisa Loeb, who also happened to come up with one of the greatest pet-friendly titled pop songs of the 90’s, “Stay”) has come out with a sweet, colorful photography book filled with heartwarming stories of all kinds of therapy dogs and service dogs who are doing their part to make this world a better place!
